Rotorua - The Museum
aka Night Club, Restaurant and Thermal Spa. It has been each of these in it's 120 year history
Catriona was keen that we visited the museum but we weren't. By taking us there for breakfast she changed our minds. We ate poached eggs, bagels with salmon and cream cheese, ham and egg quiche, pancakes with Maple syrup and cream and drank long black coffees on the patio in front of the gardens. It was easier to say that we would go to the museum than not, so we did. Catriona and Diane went Zorb Balling instead.
Some shopping after we reunited when sandals (for AE) and a broad brimmed hat (for AM) were bought. Later we visited the Hukka Falls and then the best ever Spa in the Southern Hemisphere if not the world... A small hot spring which feeds in to the Waikato river at Taupo. We jostled for position amongst other weary world travellers who were, like us, benefitting from a free hot bath in the river and a shower in the waterfall (for those who could stand the "almost scalding" temperature). Some of the visitors were locals. A group of bronzed Kiwi lads came up river on a picnic bench on floats, propelled by a small outboard. World class and sweet as.
