Dolphin Lamp Post
Whilst visiting the Keighley area this afternoon, Mr MD, Polly dog and I had a quick walk around the grounds of Cliffe Castle. It was drizzling and blowing and the place was deserted.
This is the Dolphin Lamp Post outside the Castle entrance. It was made from cast iron in1870 and is part of a set designed for the Victoria Embankment in London. Originally the lamp was lit by gas and had a glass shade with a copper crown on top. I wonder what happened to the lamp; it would be nice to see it fully restored.
