Lunch with a view

Back to the Yacht Club today for lunch and catch up on some bits and pieces for the Club’s publications.
For today’s visit I was accompanied by the family from Milan, so it was a bit of an extended New Year weekend celebration.  After all I do not get to see my daughter Michelle, her husband Rosario and the grandchildren  very often, but whenever they come visiting, a visit to the Royal Southampton in Ocean Village is a must.
The two grandchildren, Vittoria and Edoardo have been enrolled on the Club’s cadet sailing training programme for a number of years, but sadly because of the distance and living in different countries it has never been practical for either to participate in training as we might have wished.
Nevertheless, whenever daughter returns to Southampton which is her home city, lunch at the Yacht Club is a must.  We know the chefs can be guaranteed to produce excellent dishes, but when  they are accompanied by a view like this over the marina at the city’s Ocean Village, we know a lunch date anywhere else would be tough to match.

And while we have dined and eaten in many first-rate places in and around Milan, nowhere has been quite like this.
