Bakewell raft race

A very eventful Bakewell Carnival week raft race this year.
1). I got to judge the rafts a fabulous thing to do. The winner was fantastic, a raft designed as a VW camper bus complete with a crew of hippy children, lovely.
2). The river was running very high, resulting in one of the fastest races I've ever seen.
3). A lovely sunny start soon turned to monsoon conditions with spectators completely drenched and running for cover. It was as wet on the bank as it was in the river amazing.
On my way home I saw the most fantastic sight of a young lad lying in a flooded road pretending to swim.
Can't wait till next year...
