Practice in training, put it to the test in a race
To be sucessful as an athlete, you should be very smart. Practice your race in training then put it to the test in race conditions. This is oh so true those days, I see no point in putting in junk miles hoping you reach a peak.
This is my best cycling image this year, but I am a bit disapointed as I have clipped out the wheels at the bottom of the image and have plenty above this riders head.
I took this photo using a Tamron f2.8, 28-75mm with a flash gun on top of the camera, as the light was poor. I sat on the opposiite side of the road to get a decent composed shot, wanting the rider to move forward into space in this image.
I used to be a competitive cyclist, I remember; the hard work training, long hours in the saddle, dark nights, races, training camps, cafe stops, logging a training diary, meeting team mates, buying equipment, downloading data, winning, losing, crashing, getting awards, drinking recovery drinks, favorite routes, talking to my children about my routes I used to train, my favorite race and experience, getting changed in the car, talking all day about racing, taking energy drinks, repairing punctures by the side of the road, warming up on a turbo trainer, talking to competitors about the race, putting pins on jersey, puting luminus socks on top of my shoes, losing glasses on top of my helmet, getting knocked down by a few cars, walking home due to a snapped chain, seeing interesting countryside.
Have a nice weekend everyone! An early blip today. This weekend I will be running amd picking up my Daughter and friends at T in the Park....traffic jams?
