Caught by the Octopus
A fun & family oriented sandcastle competition was held on Medlands Beach today, right beside Memory Rock. There were lots of people, many entries and it was very hard for the judges to choose the winners. There were many spot prizes, super comments about the ingenuity and creativity of all the entries and a thoroughly enjoyable time. I wish I could post many of the entries for you! This entry particularly intrigued me, as it was so 'lifelike', and although not often seen, the octopus is genuine part of the marine environment here. It was given 2nd place in the 'Family' section of the competition. The standard was amazingly high!
For those of you that asked about the bronze whaler I mentioned yesterday; yes, it's a shark. It was only seen the once. Apparently they don't bother surfers very much, and are more feared by scuba divers.
