Pompeii & Piano
Pompeii is the name given to this rather special room in J.C. Jakobsen's [Carlsberg's founder] house.
Piano is the name given to the instrument I reflected this shot off, a Steinway no less (a dream to play, perfectly weighted keys, stunning sound, beautiful craftsmanship.......but I digress).
The room is called Pompeii because of a mosaic taken (or probably copied) from the doomed city. Around the wall you can see some handiwork of Denmark's most famous sculpture, Thorvaldsen. At the far end there is a balcony for a small sextet or very small octet. All very grand for what, I believe, was originally a greenhouse.
EXTRAS:
The tower from yesterday, but from the house.
Pompeii from the balcony.
An amazing ceiling that I nearly Blipped.
Me on the Stienway.
