A visit to a local food growing project in Burnley
This photo tells quite an interesting story.
The man at the centre of the picture in the black cap, is Ian who drove Patrick and me from Rishton to Burnley to visit Freshfields, a community food growing project.
The rain was consistent but we need rain to grow produce so, I tried to see the rain as a blessing.
I learnt alot from listening and had a good time washing earth off spring onions and putting elastic bands around them in buches of eight.. There is a flourishing customer base of 60 people so far, for this lovely fresh produce which is distributed in strong re-useable canvas bags, tailored to individual requirements.
There is a wonderful sense of harmony with Nature there and kind hearted volunteers. The blip shows the courgettes growing in a polytunnel.
I loved the bright orange edible flowers.
It is ten to eight and I felt inspired to put up a new blip, taken at Freshfields this morning.
This shows a few of the harvested courgettes, complete with their edible flowers, looking like mini Olympic torches!
