Hip to the Hop

Decent day despite original plans being shelved.

Getting up at 5 to pick up Ken at 5.45 to take him to Glasgow for some major surgery was always in the plan. After that I'd intended on taking the bike a little north for a hilly bike loop, then on to see the Red Kites at Argaty. But the weather, ah the weather.

Instead I had a gloriously soggy wander round Glasgow (rather than suffer the rush hour traffic out of the city and back into Edinburgh), including a slap up breakfast, to see the large amounts of massive street art that has been springing up around the city in the last couple of years. It's stunning stuff for the most part, and there should be more of it in my opinion.

Coming back to Edinburgh I popped into the Modern Art Gallery for a look at the Roy Lichtenstein exhibition, leaving thoroughly underwhelmed. Maybe the street art had simply set the bar too high, but the the gallery lacked the exuberant busy nature of pop art, with a few hangings in each sterile room.

Managed to get a brief cycle in, popping back into town from the house and entirely failing to get the last ingredient I need to start making my own bitters for cocktails. Online it'll have to be.
