Ostia Antica

Spent the day at Ostia Antica. Cost a €1.50 train ticket each way and cost €8 for entry. There were hardly any tourists there.

This site is the old (1st-4th century) Roman port town that was abandoned after the river mouth silted up. It is amazingly well preserved and has some astounding mosaic floors and painted walls. I'm hard pressed to know why this site is not as famous and popular as Pompeii. We had a great time.
