Polly's Pictures

Bit of family history

As I am confined to the house, I sorted out the drawers in the dresser and uncovered these damask table napkins inherited from my mother in law.  She was a matron in a hospital and a few of them still have the 'M' on the corner which was necessary for the hospital laundry staff to distinguish them as hers. They were very stiffly starched (and difficult to keep on your lap) when laundered and put through the rollers of the Calender machine by the professionals.  I found it quite therapeutic ironing them by hand and intend to put them to use  again.
