A SCENE IN THE SURROUNDINGS OF DERENTAL

we saw.
The sun did shine when I awoke and of course I suggested Piet Hein to take our walk in the morning, fearing perhaps that the weather could change.. But where should we go? In the west the sky looked lovely blue, so we drove to Derental in the hills just above Meinbrexen.
At first we took a path that went straight over a wide field, a wind blew there so cold and bleak that I told Piet Hein that we better would take another direction where we should be sheltered for such a wind.
We found that path at the other side of the village. At some place we sat on a bench enjoying the sunshine, viewing over the wide valley where the Weser streamed. After the bleak last days a lovely treat.
In the end we returned to our point of departure, drove back to Lauenförde, where our car had a thorough washing and from there we reached our little town in the beginning of the afternoon.

My haiku:

Up in the hills where
The harsh wind has all the might
Life's pace is different

And the proverb:

To mark with a white stone.

(= to reckon as specially fortunate or happy, in allusion of a white stone  among the ancients as a memorial of a fortunate event)
