Anne's Daily Encounters

Leiden today

Got to Leiden to visit my student son and do a little shopping for him. At the city's centre the importing line of the bridge + the low sunlight of Winter made me grab for my camera and picture it all.

Just downloaded the image and noticed in the left top the city's symbol of Crossed Keys in the December lights ~ Leiden is also named "the City of Keys" as its principal church is the St. Peter, named ofcourse after the evangelist St. Peter who's said to have been given the 2 keys to heaven since he'd become the fisrt pope... so 2 crossed keys are Leiden's icon, since centuries.
the St. Pieterskerk in Leiden was consecrated in 1121 / almost 900 yrs ago.
