Super Highway 1773

I discovered that this aqueduct, crossing the river Aire at Dowley Gap at Bingley, West Yorks, very near where I live, was built in 1773 and was part of the first stage of the Leeds/Liverpool canal to open.

This would have been seen as a super highway, very futuristic and innovative.
