Sound II

I had a library book to return to the university so we took the opportunity to visit the cathedral, which was surprisingly busy for a dull January day, with guided tours going on left, right and centre. It was good to see the crypt in its flooded state for the first time, which is the best way to view Anthony Gormley's wonderful Sound II. According to a guide who came in while I was trying all manner of camera settings to get a half way decent picture of it, the water level can normally be expected to rise at least as far as the sculpture's knees. A couple of years ago when Hampshire experienced unusual flooding the water level reached his waist. Wellies would definitely be required to venture into the crypt should that happen again!
