The British Spirit.
Peasholm Lake flooded today.
It flooded over the grass verge. It flooded over the path. It flooded over the flowerbeds and onto the pavement, road and roundabout.
It flooded on the surface all the way to the sea, as the stream that feeds it used to do for centuries until it was chanelled into an underground conduit.
The ducks on the lake seemed unperturbed, as did this young couple who came prepared, wearing wellies, and just walked their normal route through the flood and out the other side.
so very British, and more than a bit Scarborough come to think about it.
