horns of wilmington's cow

Ermine

Heading to Cove on the coast in the Borders, the intention had been to look out for Little Auks, which have been appearing in large numbers around the coast thanks to the various storms that have battered the country. Disappointed at not seeing them we headed up onto the cliffs for a little longer walk, and then there was that moving flash of white.

There followed a good few minutes watching a Stoat in his ermine coat darting about all over the place in the rain. Any thoughts of disappointment completely gone.

(Mel preferred the leaping extra shot showing off the black tip to the tail, but I've gone with the major crop cos he had a lovely wee face)
