Red-breasted Merganser

A male red-breasted merganser (Mergus serrator)


The stormy weather has pushed birds in close to the shore seeking food and shelter.


From the Promenade this afternoon I saw goldeneyes, long-tailed ducks, and this male merganser.  I have put a long-tailed duck in as an extra.


Sadly, they are not the best of quality as the weather was so wet and dull that I was on max ISO, max aperture and 1/60th sec.
