Ipanema from Arpoador
A very hot day! We were covered in suntan cream for our walk along the front of Copacabana, but the heat got the better of us and we had to cross the street and walk in the shade on the 'not sea' side. Walked the Copa stretch and through the park to Ipanema, where we stopped off at the Arpoador Inn, where we had Christmas lunch. No lavish buffet this time though, but ice cold beer and a plate of calamares to share. No table on the terrace, but a table inside, with the windows open and a prime view. Our walk continued to the Sunday hippy market, where we had a little mission to accomplish. Back down to the front again and more liquid refreshment and a half hour on the beach to enjoy the sunset. Dinner was at Itahy, the 'place on the square', still in Ipanema and a 20 min walk away. Picanha meat, grilled at the table - lovely, but just far too much. We ate less than a third, so as we always do here, we offered the rest to a homeless family in Copacabana - a couple and their baby. For the record, my foot wasn't too bad today and I was wearing trainers.
