Happy New Year

Home in Ipoh with mother for the new year. Still thinking of the movie from the night before. How easy it would have been for the trapped miners to despair and the iniquity of it all that they got no compensation whatsoever for the ordeal. It went beyond negligence, wilfull disregard. Such social injustice is practice pretty much through all layers of society, I guess. My jaw dropped in the end when the subtitles said none of the survivors got a penny in compensation. The government did so much merely to maintain its image, and nothing else. Sad.

On another note, movie score composer passed after completing this movie in his accident. They're all dropping like flies: Abbado, Boulez, Horner. Sad.

Not a very happy start, eh.
