The Tourist Trail
Off to London on the 10:15, to meet with Megs, Sean, Tom and Jenny from Edinburgh, who either live near or were chancing to be in the city.
I met Sean at Kings Cross, before walking to Farringdon to meet up with Meg for lunch. It was fantastic to see London from a Londoner's perspective. Farringdon, where Meg volunteers, with a fantastic street market selling (admittedly expensive) Spanish and Moroccan food. Unfortunately, Meg wasn't off work until 6, so we walked into town, via St Pauls and took in the Tate Modern, where we met Jenny.
Walked along south bank to see the Houses of Parlement (not what Londoners would do) and met up with my mate Jack, who's working in London for the summer but who normally lives in Tuscany, so it was amazing to have the luck to meet up with him. We walked to Charring Cross and had a pint, then another, then met Meg, had another, then went back to Meg's house in St Albans.
Meg's house was fantastically lively and amazingly friendly as always. You can't help but feel welcome with her family. Sean and I will are staying here for a couple of days. Just a pity it's on Europe's most expensive train line - £7 single for a 20 minute train!
