Coming Of Age

Today was Coming Of Age Day in Japan. On this day, young men and ladies visit a shrine to celebrate reaching the age of twenty. Ladies in particular dress up in gorgeous outfits. To wear a kimono like these for one day can cost up to ¥1 million (or £5,000.) That price includes hiring somebody to dress you, do your hair and make-up etc. Not surprising, then, that these ladies are pleased to be seen and photographed.
