Morning murk.
Very murky for the start of a slightly later Monday walk but it was dry which was unexpected. (No rain but still very wet underfoot)
People appeared out of the mist as we walked up the familiar
St Ives' paths and then in an attempt to stick to less muddy routes we walked down Altar Lane into Bingley to cross the road into Myrtle Park and head for Beckfoot.
We were foiled here by a flooded path, too deep for our boots so turned to cross Ireland Bridge and walk along the River Walk to the park. Again it was very muddy but the worst thing was seeing all the litter clogging up the trees and bushes at the river side indicating how high the water had been in the floods.
The intention was to cross the Aire at the bottom of Myrtle Park but we found the bridge had been closed off with police tape and fencing. The water was very high and gushing but there was no indication of what was wrong with the bridge. (See extra)
Another detour then to get to Beckfoot Lane where we passed this little group of four trees. I just liked their winter form and the pond in front of them was rimed with ice as were some of the puddles in Myrtle Park.
A good 5 miler!
