Jack Philips Memorial

We were lucky that a dry New Years' Day morning allowed us to go for a bracing walk round Godalming.

This is the memorial to local resident Jack Phillips, the wireless operator on the Titanic, who went down with the ship in 1912.  The memorial, endowed by the Wireless and Telegraph Company, is in a cloister with a garden designed by another local, Gertrude Jekyll.
