Melting Away

You should have seen all the snowmen that were being built around here yesterday! The very last day before the schools started again, multitudes of children went outside and put all their best efforts into building their own one, the snow finally being warm enough to do it, but not too warm so it would melt. Every yard in our neighbourhood now has at least one, it seems.

Today, however, is a totally different matter. One or two degrees above zero, and everything is going away fast. The snow sticks to my legs so I have to wear my overalls, which I don't like, and the streets are all slushy and brown, nothing like the clean, frozen ones we've had. I like the dry, cold snow much better.

We've at grandma and grandpa's, and mum helped taking down the lights from the Christmas tree. Why, I wonder, because it's still very dark outside. I got a whole meatball - there is just no way I am on a diet any more...

PS: on our evening walkie, I discovered that someone had built a snow CAT on our lawn, complete with collar and whiskers! Veeeery fishy...
