Where do you fancy going?
Today’s Mono Monday challenge is FANCY, thanks to Osuzanna for hosting. I use the word most in the question “where do you fancy going?” I absolutely love going to interesting and unusual places, even more so when visiting with a fellow photographer, cameras in hand.
As kids we generally stayed local with a couple of trips to London a year and a one week holiday in the UK. I remember my grandmother being the first person in the family to go on a ‘foreign’ holiday, to of all places Ibiza, a nice quiet island at the time. It sounded incredibly exotic to me. I used to look at the famous world landmarks in the jigsaw in the photo above and wonder if I’d ever visit any.
I came across this jigsaw again as part of my decluttering and thought I’d do it one last time before throwing it away (it has two pieces missing, otherwise I’d put it in the charity pile). It’s quite unusual being circular and has some very strangely shaped pieces. I think I kept it because of the landmarks, they fascinated me.
I’ve now visited Stonehenge, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Sphinx, the Colosseum, the Little Mermaid and Trafalgar Square. I have a flying phobia, so Christ the Redeemer, the Statue of Liberty and Mount Rushmore are too far away. That leaves Windmills and Tulip Fields in Holland and ‘The New Forth Bridge in Scotland’ to see. That last one surprised me, so I looked up when it was built and that was 1964, so I guess the jigsaw was produced around that time.
So, where do you fancy going?
