An apple a day keeps the doctor away ... and in Germany there's a program leading to the popularisation of local apple trees and encouraging people to eat more apples, German Apples Day, falling today, January 11. It began as a part of a campaign “Germany – My Garden”.

The day is celebrated by giving out hundreds of thousands of apples in five major cities. Each year more and more German apples are distributed among schools, kindergartens and passers-by for free.

So today I've been occupied with job descriptions for on one to share my workload and deadlines for government consultations on proposals for the regulation of off-site informal education settings (met with 40 mins to spare). Not much to photograph, hence the apple.
