I resisted the temptation to upgrade, because I reckon an easily pocketable £50 camera that runs on AAs is a rather useful thing to have, whatever other kit it might back up. So, that's what I got (minimising guilt too).

So, to Bowie. I was never a real fan, though can't question the quality of his best stuff, some of which is very good indeed. I guess at the time I was really getting interested in music he was already part of the old guard, and had morphed (impressively) too many times to tick my "authenticity" box. More fool me ...

From an older perspective, there's more to admire than my youthful self would have admitted - not least what seems to have been holding on to deliver a final piece of work that from what I've caught so far on the radio promises to be pretty fine.
