Phone Box
I don't suppose many people use these nowadays. Everyone has a phone in their pocket. If we needed to make a call when I was young, you had to go and often queue up behind several other people who all had friends or relatives to call. The inside of the box always smelled of cigarette smoke and often urine or vomit as well. Disgusting. They were not maintained very well. You never saw anyone cleaning them and if they were out of order it was often for a long time. They had Yellow Pages and the local directory in the box on a shelf. they were attached to a mechanism so they couldn't be removed, but that didn't stop people from ripping pages out or scribbling in them.
The good old days? I don't think so.
