A waxeye warns off a challenger to the apple he has claimed. He threatens with a sharp shriek and partly lifted, shivering wings. Good large.

A fine and frosty day. I sawed a lot of wood, cleared the sunniest woodshed and stacked much of the not yet dry hardwood in it. Hard work, but very satisfying.
