Dig this!..

The start of the new poly tunnel groundworks. A few days ago, I dug a ditch at the bottom end of the tunnel site, mainly to take the water from the central ditch here to the right hand side of the croft.

You can just make out a few bamboo canes to the right of that ditch, marking out two 30 foot by 18 foot tunnels. I'm working on the lower one.

The ground slopes away to the right, and into the distance. I have to build it up almost 2 feet at the bottom right corner. So today, I've dug all the topsoil from below the tunnel, throwing it onto the tunnel site. And nearly have the levels I want! I've also dug a ditch, near 40 feet long, by two wide, and down to subsoil level, again throwing this onto the right side of the site. Moved about 10-12 tonnes of soil, and I know I've done it now!

Second pic is the site afterwards. And the third is of the mountains in snow..

Glutton for punishment, I then went down the hall and painted the wall behind the stage with the first coat of it's final colour. I'll try and do another coat tomorrow, and can then undercoat the skirting, and gloss.

A cold bright day, and good for working, after snow first thing..

Excitement on Scouriemore today too. A gas delivery lorry slipped off the road into a ditch. We were cut off for several hours as tractors and diggers tried to get it out again. Didn't really cause a problem, but had there been an emergency requiring fire engine or ambulance, they couldn't have got through..

And finally, the seeds that I ordered at 11pm Monday night were delivered today, 36 hours later. Much praise to Moles Seeds and The Royal Mail. Well done. (It's come from Essex to the far NW Highlands!).
