Wednesday: Opera Seats
Having had such a good time at the opera a few weeks ago, we met up with Tomislav and Zlatko to go again, this time to see 'La Traviata'. It was a pretty good production, quite modern. The only problem is that the singers are (obviously) employed for their voices, not their acting ability and Alfredo (who was from Kazakhstan......) just felt very wooden to me.
We might try for a ballet next, now that the culture vulture is upon us.

'Killing and Dying' by Adrian Tomine is an excellent collection of six graphic short stories. The stories themselves are fascinating, you have no idea where they are going. But what makes the book is the drawings. Utterly clean and precise but very moving at the same time. Tomine has written quite a few graphic novels but is best known for his 'New Yorker' covers. He is definitely worth checking out.
