Roses grow on you

What a lovely surprise I got this morning when I opened my door. A beautiful bunch of roses!

I think I can guess who gave me these (my neighbour who looked herself out yesterday and I helped her get back in) but I'm not 100%.

An unexpected kind gesture can really lift one's spirit. And lift mine it did. The flowers look lovely in my favourite jug - an heirloom from my father's side of the family

I also noticed the day lengthening this afternoon. I think we now get 20 minutes more daylight at the end of the day. But winter has arrived and I needed my thermals. No snow is expected this far south but we're told to expect minus degrees
