Waste of time

Our garden waste collections stop for winter (December to February), but we are able to ring and request a collection if necessary during this time.

We didn't actually have much garden waste; what you see in the bin is the result of Mr A diligently sweeping up the semi-mulched leaves (that the road sweeper ignored) from our cul de sac. Quite rightly, he was concerned they would become slippy once wet/frozen, so decided to clean them up before the weather gets worse.

Today was the day we were told our bin would be collected, so we made sure we parked it out front ready for collection.

However, when the bin men came they decided not to empty our bin (or the one next door)!

A quick tweet to the council (social media is the fastest way to get a response these days), complete with photo of prompted a response telling me that they didn't empty it as it was full of soil, but if I would like to remove the soil, they would take the remaining waste next time!!!!!!!

I was quick to point out that it is not soil, but rotting leaves and that if the road sweeper bothered to drive down our tree lined close, rather than bugger off when he gets to the top of the adjoining street, then we wouldn't need a winter collection at all.

Mr A has sent a strongly worded email (to the same effect), so let's see what happens.

Enough ranting....it's weekend! Have a good one blipmates :-)
