Digitalis purpurea
Despite the grim weather forecast and reports of heavy flooding causing driving problems in Edinburgh, we have not had a drop of rain in Peebles today, so I've spent the day in the garden, doing the usual tasks and pottering.
This is the common Foxglove. Not the rarest plant in the garden, but I love them. There is something brazen and almost vulgar about its size and its incredibly bold colour. But the level of detail inside the trumpets is amazing. No wonder the bees can't resist them.
