I was going to make a gag about you youngsters and always checking Facebook but we all know that she's probably placing an order during a busy trading period. And that's actually quite groovy. 

A million years ago, in another life, I worked as a technical consultant for a company which sold EPOS and that was after working as the Operational Audit and Communications Manager for a chain of supermarkets. From both roles I know how tricky it can be to get real-time stock data and drive stock levels from them. I was involved in this stuff before we had these mobile technologies so much was done with bits of paper and Biros. Here it's probably a question of counting the shelf-stock and the system calculating the overall stock-holding and consumption and then determining whether any needs to go on the order.

In other news. A lovely day of doing very little but which included discussing food with a friend and some map-reading and getting stuff on shelves.
