Thalictrum - a cloud of mauve

I have tried many times to try and capture the thalictrum shrub in flower. It towers above the garden at 2 metres tall. Half of that is foliage like a maidenhair fern the rest is this cloud of mauve buds and flowers.
It sort of disappears against a blue sky and white clouds. I have tried getting in behind and facing the south away from the light. I have tried dawn shots, evening shots and shots taken from a ladder. I have laid down on the lawn and looked up.
Today is my best yet effort and I add an extra as a closeup of the tiny flowers.
