Lake Tekapo from Mount Cook
There had been too much sitting around in cars and boats. We needed some brisk hill wind in our faces and something to get the blood circulating. We opted for the coast line walk and then the track up Mount Cook to the Observatory and The Astro Cafe. At last I have found an open café at the top of a hill which sells fantastic coffee and bagels with salmon and cream cheese amongst other things. We expected nothing special and were pleasantly surprised by the friendly staff, great views and the range of options, so although we came to sneer we stayed to scoff. I know, it’s an old joke but I have limited material available…
Later we ate our first New Zealand Korean meal back in the town centre and later watched a movie in our rustic cabin - one of Stewarts selection of downloads and much appreciated - thanks Stew.
OK, OK I lied.
It wasn't Mount Cook. That is the big one with the snow and the glaciers. But Mount John was tough enough. Just saying.
