First snow

This sight greeted me when I opened the curtains this morning.  Was expecting frost.  Donned my wellies to go and fetch the paper for a neighbour (I don't bother with one on a Sunday) and took childish pleasure in being the first person to make footprints in the pristine carpet.  I then used my pristine snow shovel to clear the path and pondered whether or not to keep it handy in case there is a repeat performance tomorrow.
The snow is melting quite quickly, which in some ways is sad!
