Bread & Jam

Great time with the good people of St Leonard's, Southminster, and wider community, for their annual Hackblock a Service (see extra pic). 150 years ago 2 brothers left their wealth for the education of the young in the village. One condition is that each year there should be a church service at which the preacher is paid 1 shilling, in pennies, and the congregation share locally baked bread and jam after the service. Today we heard from many young people in the locality with stories of how they have used Hackblock funding this year.  Truly inspiring young people and inspiring stories. And I received my shilling and we shared bread and jam.
