In the swing!
Today was our main celebratory event for our 200th anniversary at church. Members of the congregation exhibited hobbies, talents and interests. There were collections of stamps, thimbles and postcards; painting, photography and pottery; spinning, weaving and knitting; embroidery, wood carving and quilting. All done by members of the church.
We also had demonstrations by groups to which our members belong - Caledonian dancing, handbell ringing and circle dancing, which is used as a focus in some forms of worship.
I've known the couple in this photo for well over 20 years and they have always been full of energy. Their contribution to the static display was a whole display on the many cycling tours and races they have been involved in. As you can see, they are also keen exponents of 1940s dancing. This was, I believe, a 6 beat Lindy Hop. Very energetic and not easy to get them in frame and in focus!
