A weekend in the 'smoke'.
I live in the country, my daughter lives in the town.
I remember a 'debate' when I was at junior school........'this house believes it is better to live in the town', I think I voted against the motion and would probably vote the same way now. However I love my weekends in London visiting my daughter. She lives in Fulham and works near the Southbank and embraces London life to the full. When I visit we dip in and out, enjoying lovely long walks along the Thames and enjoying theatre and ballet too.
Yesterday was a glorious day and after tea and garibaldi biscuits in bed, we had a long walk from Fulham to Hammersmith bridge and back to Putney. We saw lots of rowers enjoying the river and the exercise and the sunshine (if I rowed, I would be cox, much less tiring). We walked back through Parson's Greem and walked past a tailors where the threads hanging in multiple colours caught my eye. I went into the shop to take a picture (five pounds please?).
We enjoyed a visit to the ballet in the evening at Sadlers wells - my, how The Angel Islington has improved since those days of being the cheapest on the Monopoly board. Matthew Bourne's production of Sleeping Beauty was quirky and different but I am please he stuck with the original score.
Another cup of tea in bed (more garabaldi biscuits) and all to soon I'm heads back to the country where snow has fallen on the welcome sight of green fields.
Hope to be 'smoke' again before too long.
