Water of Leith

Just a busy day in the office, so I took my short walk between Dean Village and Dean Gallery (Modern Art Gallery 2). It may be sometime before I can do this walk as there have been landslips again, and the tarmac path has large cracks.

The path was closed in 2014, and it took over a year to reopen the path. Hope this won't take as long. Mind you, when the slope was monitored and 'fixed', lots of vegetation was stripped back. To me, this seems the most likely reason for the current landslip, lack of vegetation to hold the slope together.

In the image, the centre of the river has foam, a result of the huge volume of water cascading over a weir up river from here. It happens at several points where the river seems much calmer.
