The Story of Tommy Jones

Another weekend, another walk up the Beacons. No pain, no gain and all that! LOL!

Although I went specifically looking for an obelisk today, that remembers the sad story of Tommy Jones. Tommy was a 5 year old little lad from the Rhondda visiting his grandparents in Brecon with his dad in 1900. On a refreshment stop they met up with his grandfather and cousin, to give advance warning of their arrival to his grandmother, Tommy and his cousin went ahead but little Tommy got scared and went to return to his father and grandfather. Sadly he was never seen alive again and after a search lasting 29 days, his body was finally found and this obelisk is where it lay. A terrible and harrowing story!
