Flying dutchman

Under certain weatherconditions the ferries across the Oslofjord, between Moss and Horten, seem to be flying above the water.
Flying islands or ships are possible, even without any manipulation. This optical illussion is a result over our viewing distance and the weather condition. Foata morgana and mirage are almost the same. Just like a fairytale. All of us have heard of the "flying dutchman" and we can easily understand why phenomenons like this can inspire an author like Edward Fitzball as he wrote the novel in 1826.
