the grind

After the excitement of the weekend it's well and truly back to the grind this morning, including a little bit of very last minute homework... 

Arrived at work to discover that David Bowie had died. 6music predictably devoted the morning to playing Bowie tracks back to back and the internet exploded with everyone (well, nearly everyone) changing their facebook profile picture. 

I'll admit to not being a massive Bowie fan; for a long time I admired him more for the ability to play a steinberger while rollerskating and his outright pop numbers from Let's Dance (probably in no small part to Stevie Ray Vaughan's playing and Nile Rodger's production) (it was the 80s, man, and metal was more my thing then but you can't keep a good pop song down). Of course, over time the back catalogue was absorbed, appreciated and covered. A shame to be sure.
