Kirtland Temple

A light snow was falling when I jumped out of the car to grab this picture of the historic temple. I don't have enough energy to write a history of it tonight, so I will quote from this website:

The Kirtland Temple stands on a bluff in northeastern Ohio, about 25 miles east of Cleveland, overlooking the beautiful Chagrin Valley. Owned and operated by the Community of Christ (the former Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints), the Kirtland Temple is open for tours to members of all faiths. Several sites and buildings have been restored in Historic Kirtland by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which bring to life the story and the spirit of the early Kirtland Saints.

Apparently, the Saints didn't stay long in Kirtland, leaving the area two years after the Temple was dedicated in 1836 and heading west. I have toured the building several times, and it is an amazing structure with an interesting history. Currently owned and beautifully maintained by an LDS congregation known as the Community of Christ, it is well worth a tour if you are ever in the Cleveland area..
