Haggis Hunt!

We set off to Guiseley, over the moors today to find Haggis.

We were successful and got a large one though we had to look again when we found the first one had expired!

Returning through Hawksworth we again approached Eldwick/Bingley Moor and despite a distinct lack of snow there were other treats to spot. First a Kestrel sitting on the overhead wire but the road is narrow and twisty here and we couldn't stop. Immediately after we saw this Red Kite flying across from Baildon Moor and having frightened a flock of ducks into the air, it settled in this tree. (Perhaps he too was hunting a haggis!) A handy layby allowed us to stop for a closer look. A van man stopped too to ask if we had seen the bird and did we know what it was. Great to know people are interested.

I have seen the kites before in this area but usually overhead. It's not a brilliant shot as I couldn't get any closer but you can clearly see what it is. These have been a great success since they were reintroduced in the Harewood area.
I am as thrilled with it as my unexpected little Robin yesterday which made the popular pages, thank you.

Wonderful news re blip. Good to see the money is still creeping up too. Anyone who was holding back and wants to support the new venture should think of pledging or donating now to give them an even better start. Pledging is open until 1March. ( see above)
