Happy Birthday, Mom!

Seems Mothers' birthdays come in twos, first with my mom's coming just a few days before JCD's. Her birthday tends to coincide with my girl's family's time in Waupaca, and this is the second year she's taken them up on their offer to join them.

It was another warm, sunny day, and my girl's Grandpa and his wife came to the cabin for their annual homemade buttermilk pancake breakfast. There was an amazing feast of food for the 10 of us - pancakes, bacon, strawberries, raspberries, maple syrup, and yogurt. And then there was birthday cake and a chocolate torte. You see, my Mom's birthday coincides with her Grandpa's, so it was a double birthday celebration!

After cleaning up breakfast a portion of us went out again for boating and swimming and fun in the sun. According to my mom, though she had only missed one day of work (Tuesday), it felt like she had an entire weekend off, it was that enjoyable. Perhaps this picture captures that.
