A different angle

A day out on the hill with old &  new friends today doing some technical skills - teaching, learning & practicing all in one fun package. Was good to transfer some of my alpine ropework and avalanche know how to the Scottish hills, and a lot of time was spent assessing snow pack and measuring slope angles. As ever practicing teaching ice axe arrests quickly descended into who could go fastest before they initiated the stop. We managed feet first, head first, on your back head first, rolling, tumbling and running jump. Despite some very fine kit snow gets everywhere - fortunately laughter is very warming, the weather said it was the coldest night of the year - but -3°C felt positively warm today  with no wind to add to the chill.
